Who are we ?

The Montpellier Jacou Orchestra is a wind and precussion orchestra. It was created in September 2000 with 23 musicians.

It is mainly focused on music written for wind orchestra. This musical repertoire, modern and very diverse,  mix with a certain taste classical music and original compositions, films soundtracks, jazz standards and also a bit of latin music.

The society is under the 1901 law, and does not  pretend to be profitable by any mean. A small participation is asked to any musician joining the orchestra (35 euros for active people, 20 for students and non-workers) .

Where to find us ?

The orchestra meet every Thursday evening, 830pm, from September to June, at the Salle Prévert in Jacou.

Like in all associations, the members moving at the end of the season for personal or professional reasons leave places to be filled. Feel free to contact us wether you are an amateur music instrument player, a music teacher or running a music school, you are welcome. We often welcome students or visitors from abroad staying in France for a period of at least a year.

We are mainly searching for:

  • Brass instruments (trumpets, cornets, French horn, trombones, tubas, and euphoniums)
  • Woodwind instruments (oboe, bassoons and saxophones)
  • One or two percussionists.
